Five certifications you can earn in under six months - at no cost

Gulfline Workforce Alliance · 4 minute read

When people picture going back to school, they usually picture two things: years of classes and a pile of debt. For a growing set of in-demand jobs in our region, neither is true.

Through state training grants, five certification programs at partner colleges are currently free for eligible residents - and every one of them can be completed in less than six months. Here's what they are, what they pay, and how to start.

Where the jobs actually are

Regional employers reported more than 1,200 open positions last quarter in logistics, healthcare support, and industrial maintenance. These aren't entry-level-forever roles: each field has a clear next step, and employers in our partner network interview program graduates directly.

Eligibility in one sentence: if you live in the five-county service area and earn less than the regional median income, you likely qualify - and a career navigator can confirm it in one phone call.

Getting started this month

Enrollment for the fall cohort opens August 1, but the paperwork - residency, income verification, and a short skills assessment - takes about two weeks. Starting now means starting classes on day one instead of joining the waitlist.

Call a career navigator, or stop by any workforce center. Bring a photo ID and a recent pay stub, and leave with a plan.
